Petit Jean fun

Leaf pile fun. . . .

I love this goofy picture. :)

Jackson was cracking me up. First he was looking for dinosaur bones (white rocks) on the playground. Then we went up to the gravesite overlook, and he was calling all the big rocks dinosaur footprints. He's all about the dinosaurs lately!

Swearing in, Little Rock, Jan 10th

Finally posting pictures on my blog of the swearing in. I already posted them on facebook, so I guess I forgot about putting them on here too. The capitol looked beautiful surrounded in snow.

Steve's mom and dad came from Florida for the week to be present for the swearing in. They were soooo proud!

The gold doors in front of the capitol building. Until recent years, this was used as the main entrance. Now visitors have to go through security at another entrance.

From the front steps
Stephen and David on the House floor. Over the doors is a sign that says "In God We Trust".

Steve taking the oath
Steve and Dave cast their first votes as representatives, voting for the speaker of the house.
Just before we left Little Rock, Steve and Dave gave their parents official American and Arkansas flags, which were supposed to have flown over the Capitol building.

Some recent pictures

O tannenbaum, O tannenbaum. . .

Lately Rebecca likes stacking up the cans of cat food.

Saturday we went to the Capitol building. It's so pretty all lit up.

Rebecca watching tv and trying to figure out how to use the remote. She has one she can play with that we never use, but sometimes Daddy gives her the "real" one.

We're staying busy these days. We're going caroling tonight. I haven't been caroling in a really long time!

Rainbow

We've had a lot of rain lately, and last week, we saw this beautiful rainbow. Steve put the panorama together with his stitching software, so it looks a little weird on the sides. Today we have a little sleet and freezing rain. I think our high was around 30 degrees!

Blanchard Springs

Steve's cousin's have been in town this weekend, so we all went up to Blanchard Springs. It was super hot and humid outside, so it was a great day to be down in a cool cave. Here's Kenny, Jimmy, and Libby getting off the elevator.

And these little wall looking things are called rimstones.

Here's part of the creek that runs throught the caverns.

This is called the Christmas tree room. A little blurry, but still okay. At Christmas time, they have caroling in the cave. We're thinking about going to it one year. The yellow lights around the top mark the path the cavers in the 1960's took while exploring the caverns.

This is the giant flowstone. This past April after we had all of that rain, they say the water was up to that darker line and the whole flowstone was wet from all the water running down it.

I think this was the ghost room towards the end of the tour. Lots of "soda straws" on the ceiling.

After the tour of the caverns, we walked to the springs. It was very humid, and there was a mist on the water. Cool to see, hard to take pictures of.

And this is where Steve took that great picture of the cascades a few years ago. He has it on his website under wallpaper or something. This time, it was harder to get the pictures because of the humidity.

And on the way out, Jimmy and Joshua thought it was entertaining to toss leaves into the spider webs. We were watching the spiders remove the foreign objects from their homes. :)

White County

I had a day off a couple of weeks ago, so I went over to White County to do some research at the courthouse. I like driving in the country and stopping to take pictures, and here's a few of the ones I took that day. I just love this old church. The last time I was by there it was covered in that plastic, and you couldn't see the siding at all.
