Destin

We spent several days in Destin. Destin is so pretty! I'm being kind of lazy tonight. I don't feel like putting these pictures in order. Sorry.

This vacation was Rebecca's first time going to the beach. At first she didn't like the sand, but she soon got used to it and was loving it.

This was on our last day in Destin. We went to a park and Rebecca played in the water. Kelly and Joe have two kayaks, and we all got to go out in the kayaks. So fun! Rebecca LOVED playing in the water!

She rode around in the kayak with Aunt Kelly.

By this time she was super tired and was nodding off.

We saw lots of dolphins. Some of them came really close to the shore.

Key West

I grew up in south Florida and until recently had never been to Key West. Stephen thought that was ridiculous. Since we were in Miami and I will probably never go back to Miami, he thought it would be the best time for me to go to Key West.

This is the southern most point in the United States. Stephen would want me to add that it's the southern most point that has public access. He's very technical.


We found a state park to watch the sun set.

Disney World

If you didn't already know, then you probably guessed that we went to Disney World while we were in Florida. It was Rebecca's first visit, and the first time I'd been to Magic Kingdom in a long time.

Nana and Pappa got Rebecca this spinning toy at Downtown Disney. She loves it!

I've always liked the electrical parade, and Rebecca seemed to enjoy it. . .



. . .after which she quickly fell asleep. It was a long day for her, but a fun day with lots of memories.

Jacksonville Zoo

Last Tuesday we went to Jacksonville Zoo with the Hazelwoods. I haven't been to a zoo in a long time, and never to Jacksonville Zoo.

Reuben called this "the green lake". It's duckweed. It's a sheet of microscopic flowers the ducks eat.

A little more info on duckweed, pretty interesting. (I thought.)

This is a white bellied bustard. He was sooo loud! And fun to watch running back and forth after the kids.

We liked these monkeys. They were cute.

The Jacksonville Zoo is near the airport. Every time a plane flew over, which happened quite a few times while we watched, the lions watched them.

These are lorikeets. They were so pretty. You can pay a dollar or two for nectar to feed the birds. We didn't have to. Other people kept giving us theirs.

Florida

Here's a summary of our trip to Florida in pictures (minus the zoo pictures, I'll post them later). Rebecca did really well traveling. Everyone thinks she's such a good baby, and a mommy loves to hear that.
Nanna and Pappaw gave her a coat. She is using it this week. It's COLD in Arkansas!!!

We spent one day with Nanna going to lunch and to the mall. We went in the Disney Store, and Nanna had Rebecca giggling at this Minnie Mouse doll she bought her.

Pappaw is so sweet with Rebecca.

We took a trip to downtown Jacksonville one day and took a walk by the river.

Rebecca is surrounded by boy cousins, but they all love her!

This was the day we left Jacksonville to stay in Destin for a couple of days with Kelly, Joe, and the boys.

I think this picture is so sweet. Kelly was trying to get Rebecca to mimick her.

After Kelly and I came back from Kohl's, Rebecca snuggled up on the couch with her Daddy.

This was Rebecca's first time at the beach. Too cold to get in the water, but Destin is still very pretty. Destin is a little closer to us than Jacksonville, so hopefully we can at least get to Florida a little more often. We miss you guys!

Vacation - day 8

We spent our last full day in South Florida at my Aunt Barbara's house. This is the last day of pictures from our trip. Finally, right? :)

My Uncle Ronald came over for a little while. It was really nice to get to see him for a little while. He never stays long. :)


Then Steve and my dad went to tour Thomas Edison's house, and the rest of us played games. We played Catch Phrase, Scattergories, and Apples to Apples. It was lots of fun.
