Don't leave Daddy!

I took this picture a few weeks ago, and never posted it. This was one morning just before Steve left for work. For a couple of weeks, Rebecca would cry and cry every time he left the house. So sweet, but sad.

Strawberry Shortcake dress

I was looking through things for some pictures last week, and I came across this old dress. I'm sure my sister wore this, and I may have worn it. I had already decided I wanted to have a Strawberry Shortcake birthday party for Rebecca next summer. I like to plan ahead so I can bee looking at yard sales for thrifty decorations. This dress should fit her just about right.

Daddy's Helper

Our disposal had something caught in it, and our local Mr. Fix-it was taking care of it. He had a little helper who likes to be involved.


I got my free mp3 player in the mail last week. It was a facebook promotion from Napster. Steve didn't think I would ever get it, and I really wasn't counting on it. But Wednesday I got a confirmation e-mail that it was on it's way, and Thursday I got it. By the way, I usually don't sign up for things like this that seem fake, but I really wanted one and it was all over Napster's facebook page. I've never had an mp3 player before. I'm excited to use it this week if I decide to when I go for a walk.

Blue Bomber

That's what I've always called it. The Hazelwoods called it Madame Blueberry. We got the Blazer from them a few years ago when we lived in Florida. Now it's time for it to move on to the next family. My brother in-law John came this week to pick it up. he's getting it fixed up with new tires and brakes. It has over 220,000 miles now, and is still going. That old Blazer has a lot of memories for us.

A couple of nights ago when Daddy was on his laptop. . .



And I just bought a camera last night on ebay! It will arrive Friday, and I can't wait! I only needed the camera body, since I have my old film Rebel and I can use the lense from it. I'm sure my mom and dad will be glad to get their camera back! Yippee!!!

Mouse in the house

This is what I found one of the kitchen cabinets Friday morning. I heard a mouse a couple of months ago one night when I was sleeping in the recliner before Rebecca was born. I had horrible heartburn, and if I laid down it always came back no matter how many Tums I took. I thought I was dreaming at first, but I definitely heard something moving in the attic and walls that night! I don't think Steve believed me. I must admit, that I agreed with him on one point. We have two cats. Surely if there was a mouse around, they would have killed it already. We did see Nova with a mouse a few months ago outside. She had it in her mouth, but let it go, then seemed to be playing with it. Maybe it was a show, maybe they've made a bargain with each other. Kind of like Garfield.

Now the offending rodent has left evidence of his or her presence. The unbeliever is coming home with a trap tonight. I do kind of feel bad for giving the mouse such a harsh sentence for eating my baker's chocolate. But it has to be done. More to come on the fate of our mouse with a sweet tooth.

Errand day and a food processor

I usually spend Tuesdays in Conway running errands and going to doctors. It saves us a little on gas and it's more convenient since we are trying to get by with one vehicle right now. Today I went to Target, Hobby Lobby, Walgreens, stopped for lunch, then to Wal-mart, Sonic for a cherry limeade at half price, the dentist, Kroger (when I realized I meant to go to Walgreens, then Kroger, since I can't very well keep my Steve's ice cream in my trunk for too long), back to Walgreens to use my register rewards from the first Walgreens trip, then back to Kroger to get my Steve's ice cream and other groceries on sale. Walgreens has a $5 coupon off a $25 purchase this week. It's good for today and tomorrow. They have a lot of things that have Register Rewards, so grab them while you can! To find out more go here. It was a busy day, but I'm starting to enjoy my errand days. I love coming home with a bunch of bargains, and a lot of times we stop at Granny's house. When we got home tonight, we had a package that the mail lady left us by the garage. She's so nice. I love that she leaves our packages by the garage now instead of the front door that we rarely use. :) So anyhoo, my food processor came! I got it using our points on our debit cards. It cost me 6,900 points, and we still have 13,000 something or other left. I've been wanting a food processor and plan on using it to make Rebecca baby food in a few months. We earn points when we use our debit cards as credit, so that's how we pay for everything. (with our debit cards, that is, not the points.) It's not much, but something anyway.

Happy Anniversary!

This year, our anniversary is a little different. I've not been feeling well this week, and Steve is working all day, then teaching his class tonight. I may or may not fall asleep before he gets home at 10:00. :(

Rebecca slept all night again last night! It's so nice to get seven uninterrupted hours of sleep. Oh, except I was feeling sick last night, and was up from 2 to 4. She's definitely sleeping for longer periods of time at night. :)

This was Steve's setup Friday night as he was star gazing. He was on the news again this week talking about astronomy stuff with Craig O'Neil. This time it was about the meteor shower that peaked this week. I should have posted this sooner since the meteor shower is mostly over now. But you can still watch the video clip that aired Thursday night on THV. Steve also has a blog on the channel 11 website that he writes on regularly about astronomy stuff.

Mommy or Daddy?

The thing we hear the most comments about Rebecca is her hair. Steve and I both have dark hair, so who gave Rebecca hers? So here's baby pictures of both Steve and me, and you can decide who she looks like. :)

Church

We all went to church yesterday, the first time for Rebecca. I was feeling pretty good, so I went back last night too. That was probably a little too ambitious. About half way through the sermon I felt soooo tired! But Steve enjoyed showing off his baby. He's such a proud Daddy!

Christmas

Finally getting some Christmas pictures posted. I always give Steve an ornament. This one is a little house with a key on the top. I think it's really cute.


And the baby got almost as many presents as we did. The first present was a Pooh bear from Nanna that we opened when Kelly and the boys were here. And this one is from Granny. It's a musical giraffe.


It's looking Christmas-like here though. It's been snowing for awhile, and I love watching it!

Steve's birthday

I finally have some pictures to post. Our camera case and power cord are missing, so it's hard for me to get the pictures from the camera. For Steve's birthday I made him a scrapbook of his baby pictures, old birthday cards, school pictures and papers. And then he also got some of his chocolate. Steve loves his dark chocolate.

Race for the Cure

Finally posting these pictures. This was the first time I'd done the Race for the Cure. I really enjoyed it. I walked with two others from work.

This is Capitol Street in Little Rock. We were walking to where the race started.


And this is when they were getting everyone warmed up and excited for the race to start. There were over 45,000 women in the race this year!


And here is where they did the hog call. The guy said something like, Let's do the call that gets everyone excited. And I had no idea what he was talking about. After a couple of rounds of everyone yelling "Wooooo!!!!" and raising the hands up in the air, figured out it was the hog call. As you can tell, I'm not a big football fan.



This was after the race started. We didn't move for about 10 minutes, so I took some pictures. It was a sea of pink in every direction.


This is before we crossed the first bridge. When we crossed, it was rocking and swaying. I thought I was getting dizzy at first until Beverly said it was swaying. I thought it was me!

Here's the capitol building once again. On one corner we passed the McCain Palin office and all of the supporters with their signs, and Beverly and I cheered. Then we passed the corner where the Obama supporters were. Notice the signs in the bottom of this picture. And then Chassie, head Obama fan at my branch, cheered for them.


I've always thought it would be neat to have pictures of the capitol buildings across the country. So now I have one down, and 49 to go. This building looks awesome in Christmas lights!

Paint the Town Purple

This week our branch is a display anything and everything that could be made purple to show our support for the Bears. This is homecoming week for University of Central Arkansas, and we decorated our branch in purple for the event. There's a contest every year for the business with the best decorations. I'm not sure what the prize is, but I think we should win. We've done just about everything to decorate in purple, short of wrapping the whole building in crepe paper. I think we do it mostly because to please UCA. Last year one of the faculty members from UCA (who happens to be a member at the credit union) sent a letter to the newspaper about local banks and credit unions (the credit union I work at is the only one in this city) supporting the Razorbacks and not UCA. (We wear Razorback shirts on Fridays if there's a home game.) So since then we support both, mostly UCA, but we still wear our Razorbacks shirts on Fridays. ETA: We tied with a bank in town for first place on the best decoartions.

Happy Anniversary to us!

Today makes three years for Steve and me. It doesn't seem like it's been that long. Steve said it seems like it's been longer than 3 years, but I don't think he really means that. I think he really means that a lot has happened in the last 3 years, so it seems like more time has passed. :)

Dining room

I hesitate to call it a dining room because it's not really a room, but you know what I mean. Saturday night we had our first dinner at our new table. Actually I think it was our first time actually eating in the dining room at all. I know that's bad, but until a couple weeks ago we didn't have a light there, and I still had a lot of stuff sitting on the table waiting for a more permanent home, and Steve was keeping some of his tools there. Target had a lot of their stuff at the dollar spot for 50% off. I got some small wodden hangers, which I'll post pictures of what I did with those soon. Anyhoo, I got these cute lemon wedge ice things that we used Saturday (notice the colorful glasses). But Steve still wanted his can of Sprite. Oh well. :) This weekend I'm going to work more on our china cabinet (another yard sale find). It will go on the long wall of the dining area/room where the air compressor now sits. I started stripping the paint off the cabinet Saturday. It has five, yes five, different colors on it! These include red, blue, green, gold (on the top piece only), and white. Gold? I'm not sure what someone was thinking when she painted the top piece only in gold. Maybe she painted the whole top and decided she didn't like it and painted the whole piece green, and later white. I'm not sure. All painted over the varnish that was never sanded off and the hardware. It's looking better, and I'm hoping to finish getting all the paint off this weekend. There's so much I would love to store in it, and it will look so nice decorated for fall this year!

House stuff

Steve put in a couple of doors last week. The only one left is the basement door, which we don't have yet. I painted some of the door frames this weekend so Steve could get in some more baseboards. After painting two coats of primer and one coat of paint on 15 doors, I really, really wish he had gotten the doors that had the frame already primed.



And here's the curtain I got for the back bedroom. Steve said it's 'girly'. But the room is pink. This is the room in question. I still haven't been able to get that white stuff off all of our windows.


And our cat Nova likes to climb on our roof and watch the world go by. Actually she likes to climb anything.

Post-surgery news and an update with a chandelier picture

I'm back at work today, and well on my way to recovery. My surgery went very well, and I just have to go back to the doctor once more in a couple of weeks.

This week I finally found fabric for our living room windows. Steve has gotten impatient waiting for me to decide what I want, and put sheets and towels up in the windows. I hope I can get those up this weekend. We now have a garage door at our house. Our cat Gizmo got out into the garage last night for the first time. I brought him back in, and he howled and got up on his hind legs and pawed at the door. I thought it was pretty funny. Here is where I would post a picture of our garage door if I had one. I was happy to use my remote to close the garage door when I left. It was very exciting. And Steve got our dining room chandelier up. Remember that off-whitish yard sale chandelier I got for $10? I finally finished getting the old paint on and putting a fresh coat on, and Steve wired it last night. And it works! It looks much better black. Apparently it was originally black, someone painted it off white, and I wanted to get back to black. Here's where I would post a picture of my new and improved chandelier. But Steve tends to leave the camera places, and sometimes I can't find it. So I'll add pictures later. (Updated to add picture)


We're an example of what happens when two people who love to take lots of pictures get married. We're always struggling over the camera with each other. Many of you know how I like to take lots of pictures. Steve takes sooo many more than I do, if you can believe it, and he takes good pictures. But for now you'll just have to imagine how our chandelier and garage door look. I'll post pictures later.

Happy Fourth

We didn't go to town to see the professionals set off their fireworks. Neither of us really felt like going out Friday night. Saturday night Joshua had his little fireworks show for us all (by 'all' I mean all of the family that lives around us). He was so proud of himself and was really excitecd about it.



Then Sunday night we set off a few fireworks of our own, including those snakes that 'grow'. I've always liked those. They're so weird. Those are my kind of fireworks, snakes and sparklers. Anything else makes me nervous.
